hi im having problems, i use Fraps, www.fraps.com and made many clips of me
playing a game, i gathered them into one movie maker file, and i did a lot of
editing like taking off extra seconds off clips, putting credits and intros,

i do save movie file, so i can make it a WMV file and show it to my friends,
but i get an error, now ive been able to make one video, host it on the
inernet, i added more stuff to it, 3 minutes, and then it wouldnt be able to
save, so after many times trying to fix it, i deleted it and gave up, i
created a brand new movie. different clips of games and everything, its 6
minutes long, and unable to save,

the error is this :
Windows movie maker cannot save the movie to the specific location. verify
that the original source files usd in your movie are still available, that
the saving location is still avalible, and that there is enough free disk
space available, and then try again.

after gettin it, i double check everything, it seems fine, i can watch it on
the little preview in the movie maker. can you help me?

After spending hours troubleshooting, I finally saved the file as a DV AVI
file. This was the only format that would save to my brand new very beefy
desktop. It took over an hour to save to my computer and it ended up at 7
GB. I used My DVD program to burn to a DVD + and the quality was amazing
and the GB's were reduced to only 3 on the final project. Dr John and Galan
Bridgman's articles were most helpful!

Hi,
I'm having exactly the same problem too. Interesting to know is that a few
months ago the suscribed error does'nt appear in the same conditions!
I think Microsoft must have the answer! I suppose there is something wrong
in WMM after a regular Windows Update or something???

I've looking around a while on this forum about WMM, and i saw (too) many
issues about the error " can't save movie..." I suppose there is a MAJOR
error in WMM 2.1 according to that. In spite of all good advises, i still
don't have the solution... :-(

It is a compatibilty issue that WMM has with some type's of file,
the error messages can be confusing as they can imply it is
another issue causing the problem, But................
The bottomline is you can only use WMV or AVI with impunity in WMM.
Otherwise, use secondary software to convert files to either WMV or
AVI, then import the file(s) into WMM.

Post back the details of the video file you are having problems
with, specifically it's file extension (Is it an Mpeg? Realplayer(rm)?
Quicktime? Is it in a propriatary compression format -Divx/Xvid? etc)

To add to what decoder said the same thing goes with audio files. WMA or WAV
work best and MP3's sometimes work and sometimes don't. What audio files are
you using?

No matter what type of files i want to convert and/or save into WWM, it
does'nt work and WWM shows the same error-message as told.

Well you said you looked around this forum but did you check out the
websites generally suggested that list solutions to the problem? There are
quite a few different reasons this could be happening so it really is best
to do that first and it still isn't working after eliminating all the issues
then post back again and we will look into it further. If you do solve it by
means of one of the sites I am going to point you to then still post back so
we know what worked and especially so others can benefit from it.
My site lists the most common reasons for not being able to save your movie:

one thing though, about 2 months before this error, i made a video using
fraps and windows movie maker, and it worked great, i hosted it on the
internet great no problem, i edited, made it 3 minutes longer and i got the
error, so i made ANOTHER video, and now it still gets the error, when i make
a 3 minute video with VERY FEW edits and effects it saves fine, but when i
add more clips, it messes up, i still use fraps and everything
