I want to save my projects and ultimately burn to DVD. I go to file and the
Save Movie File is grayed out. The Movie Maker Version is current 2.1
- My OS is XP home edition w/ service pak-2. How can I save other than put
it in Photoshow file under My documents?

It may be a dumb question but did you
drag anything onto your timeline?

You can import files and view them but
unless you drag them onto your timeline
there is nothing to save.
