Movie Maker Won't Write DVD

I edited some clips together to make a film just over ten minutes long. When
I try to write to DVD I get an error message "Movie Maker cannot create the
DVD because an error occurred" then if I try again a message that the drive
does not contain the appropriate type of recordable DVD disc.

If I try to make a DVD of just one short clip [about 1 min] it works fine
with the same DVD disc it previously said was the wrong type.

Is there a maximum film length you can make, or maximum number of clips? Any
ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

Which version of windows are you running, as XP movie maker doesn't have
this facility, whereas MCE edition does by using a third party app and Vista
does using dvd maker.

I am using XP MCE & Movie Maker 5.1. I am selecting Save to DVD from menu 3 -
Finish Movie. The final stage of this opens a new window with the logo DVD
Creation by Sonic Solutions. I have previously used this to compile short
films which have played fine on a standard DVD player.

There is a maximum length, but it is 60 mins.
If it worked previously and now doesn't it could be a problem with other
apps which have been installed interfering with Sonic.
Have you installed anything? In particular dvd writing/playing software,
things like nero/roxio drag and drop dvd writing apps are terrible at this
sort of thing.

Can you open sonic on it's own and import a dv.avi file saved from Movie
maker, then make your dvd?

Thanks for your help Graham, I'll have a look at my dvd software.
