Whenever i open the program it says it needs to close and sends an error
message.
It used to work fine. I dont know when it started doing this as its not a
program i use much. Ive been to my Add/Remove programs to see about doing a
Repair but its not listed! I cant find where it came from either in my
Software Set up stuff on the notebook. Any ideas?

Movie Maker 2.1 is installed as a component
for WinXP SP2.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, reverted to IE 6 and Moviemaker
operated fine again. That's a definite bug isnt it? Anyone got a solution. Im
surprised this is not a recognised MS issue for which there should be a KB
and a fix.
I probably use IE more than MM anyway, so I may redownload IE7. Ill probably
get prompted to anyway by the automatic Windows Updates.

At least you know what caused the issue.

Cheers.

yes john but is there no fix? Surely
this must be happening to lots of
people?

There have been several reports and
there may be a fix in the works but I have
no info about it.

I have the same problem. Movie Maker Fails on Start.
But I also have no desire to uninstall IE 7.
I like zooming and mulitple tabs .. and I do have FireFox with similar
features.
I prefer IE 7 most of the time because they seem to control pop-ups better
by placing the in tabs.
This behaviour is more desirable to me than that of FireFox ...
well most of the time anyway.
Does a Microsoft Rep ever comment on these issues ... or is
Out of Vista ...out of mind?
