Hello!
... I have a problem, Movie Maker won't play any of the clips in
collections, so it's kind of hard to do anything.
Me, too.
I cannot preview anything but pictures; a couple .jpgs displayed ok. After
importing any .avi or .wmv (e.g.,
<

downloaded from
<
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/videos/default.mspx>),
the player controls are greyed out.
The preview player shows the filename at the top and at the bottom displays
"Stopped" on the left and shows the video duration (e.g.,
0:00:00:00/0:04:07/11) on the right. The display remains black and the
filename and time indicator slightly flicker. In Windows Task Manager, the
Processes tab shows moviemk.exe consuming about 90% of CPU time - forever. If
i import another vid clip, the player still hangs on the first clip with no
progress at all - i must close WMM.
I've searched for many hours and have tried: converting files with Windows
Media Encoder; updating Windows and my ATI MOBILITY RADEON Xpress 2300 Series
video driver (none newer); disabling video acceleration

unchecking all filters in WMM Options|Advanced; and reinstalling twice -
WinXP SP2 (the only #$!*%# way to get WMM2.1).
My problem is similar to one posted at
<

videos, my hardware is different*, and i apparently successfully reinstalled
SP2 (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe) from "Download details: Windows XP

Preview just hangs, occupying the CPU...
