Movie Maker stopped recognizing my camera

Don't know what happened or why....was using Movie Maker with my camera just fine then one day it stopped recognizing it. I get the message "A video capture device was not detected. Verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again." I get this message even when the device is connected properly. I don't know what to do....thank you for helping
 
Try the WinDV utility... there's a link to download it on the Digital
Camcorders > Intro page.

If you have problems using WinDV, then it's your capture device/camera

I'm assuming you are using a digital camcorder with a firewire
connection.... if not, what brand and model camera is it?
