Gwen

I am very new to this work but had hoped to create my first DVD from old
photos I have scanned. Every think I wish to add to the collections takes
minute not seconds and in the middle of all the waiting it says very simply
" not responding" so I am finally forced to shut down and try later with the
same results. I am using Windows XP Pro Pak 2. Ant help would be
appreciated Gwen Kelly

Would you describe your project a bit, and your computer system.... about
how many pictures do you have in the project, how much memory does your
system have, and how fast is your CPU?

PapaJohn, sorry to be so dumb, but what is a CPU. I have loads of memory on
the computer and have not used 75% of it. My daughter gave me the computer
when she upgraded, so she had lots of memory ( incidentally it was my
daughter that told me to ask the MVPs what to do, as she too, is an MVP for
Word.

As for pictures in the project I only had about twenty as it took so long to
get them there - and I mean hours because it kept up the " not responding"
to every second one I tried and then I gave up on the pictures and tried
putting in some transisions and it took just as long for the same reason.
Thank you for your response Gwen Kelly

when people say their computer is 3 Gigahertz, that's the CPU speed.... how
fast it can think.

you may or may not have an issue with your project or computer... it's too
hard to tell without more details...

Hi Gwen,

If you're only using pictures and not video, just download Photostory 3 and
you shouldn't have a problem importing the pictures into there. It's free
and very easy to use. You can download it here.

Thank you "Newtechie" I have downloaded as you suggested and will now see
how I go. Thank you for your suggestion Gwen kelly

PapaJohn, having had a long telephone conversation with Shauna she
she tol me that my computer has a memory of 612 MB and the CPU is 996 MHZ
..

My long term aim is to put all my photos - over 2,000 of them - on to DVDs
so it is a big project . Thank you for your help Gwen Kelly

You computer should work, but not as quickly as the newer more powerful
ones... keep you hard drive tuned up... lots of free disc space and
defragmented.

Right click on the My Computer icon and select Manage... select Disk
Defragmenter. It'll show you how big your hard drive is, how much free space
it has, and give you a button to press to run a 'Defragment'.... do it once
a week or so.
