Everytime windows movie maker starts it "Encounters a problem and needs to
close"
Error Signature is as follows...
AppVer. 2.14026.0
ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180
Offset: 0001b2af

I have read about the qedit.dll file and it seems to be clashing with an
InterVideo programme? but no idea who to stop this occuring?

please can someone help! it worked fine then one day it didnt?!

Hi,

Well, here is something else you can try that worked for me. Although I'm
not finish testing the impact of doing this, it's something that got WMM to
open.

In Windows/System32, rename the qedit.dll to something else. Then open WMM.
It seems to have worked but again, I'm not sure of the impact. Try at your
own risk.

In my spare time, hahaha, I'll see what the dll does and hopefully have this
problem resolved.

Best,

Will

Hi all,
I had the same problem and had installed IE7. WMM wouldnt work. tried
everything and then finally after removing IE7 off the computer, WMM worked
again for me. IE7 affected another one of my software programs,HP Director
for my HP Printer/scanner. NOw both WMM and the software for the HP Printer
both work. There is some kind of bug in IE7 that affects onboard software.
I downloaded IE7 from a Yahoo email link to me. Not going to download IE7
until it gets fixed.

ie 7 is the culprit-----it changes a dll file that caused a conflict
between my intervideo windvd creator program and movie maker
2.1----Using add/remove programs I uninstalled intervideo windvd
CREATOR and just kept the windvd PLAYER. Now my windows movie maker
2.1 works just fine. It fixed the problem.

I can't work out how to uninstall IE7. It is not listed in my
add/remove programs box. It used to be when I had the Beta installed,
but now I have the full IE7 there is no uninstall option.

================
FWIW...it's listed in Add-Remove Programs
on my machine as..."Windows Internet Explorer 7"

Yes, I had the same problem after installing IE7 and uninstalling InterVideo
WinDVD Creator makes Movie Maker work. Thanks for the tip. Another ploy from
Microsoft against the competition ?...
