hello,

on the video cam our images look nice, plugged into the tv they look nice.
sometimes moviemaker makes the colors off and the images too dark
we tried the effect of brightening but the colors are still wrong.

anyway to get this program to reproduce correct color from the videocam?
how can we do this?

This assumes you have a camcorder which records onto minidv tape and is
naturally digital and you capture via firewire.

Capture as dv-avi
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/HowToCaptureDV-AVI.htm

This will be an exact copy of what is on tape.

If the colour still looks off, then this may be due to the monitor not being
calibrated properly, video card drivers not being up to date, directx not
being up to date.

Send your same movie back to the camcorder tape.

Watch this on tv, it should be exactly the same as the original.

Capturing as wmv will make a small difference to the quality, and if you
choose a highly compressed wmv to save hard drive space this will make a
big difference in quality.

If you have a dvd camcrder, solid state or hdd cam, these capture teh movie
as mpeg adn this doesn't work well with MM.
