Movie Maker freezing during edit

I have imported video (Mpeg from my hard disk) and sound (wav) into Movie
Maker and moved it to the timeline, all I want to do is save it. However, the
program stops responding either after I add the sound clips, or during the
save. The file isn't longer than 2 minutes and my computer specs are higher
than the recommendations I found on the Microsoft site. I'm pretty sure I
haven't done too much wrong, and I don't have any other programs running at
the same time either.

The MPEG is likely the problem.
Try converting it to AVI or WMV and it will likely work properly.
You may get lucky and get it to save in WMM with just the video clip and
nothing else at all on the timeline.
Then you can import the new file and use it in your project. If you can't
