I have made several short movies using WMM, but find that they cannot be
played in any other program other than WMM itself (e.g. Nero, Windows Media
Player etc.) owing to the type of file they are. Following on from this, when
I copy them to CD using WMM the files cannot be opened unless you have WMM on
your computer...same goes for when I send the movies as attachments to
e-mails..so...if you don't have Windows Movie Maker on your computer you are
Donald !!...Can anybody advise ? How can I save these files as a different
file type ?

All versions of Windows have a Windows Media Player and versions as long ago
as 7 of the player can player the latest WMV files.

I go to the big Apple store in Chicago every few months, and play my movies
on the new Macs... all it takes is a quick download of a special player.

Beyond that, Movie Maker saves in two file formats, DV-AVI or WMV. You can
take those files into other software and convert your movies to whatever
format you want.... what format are you wanting to go to?

Ummm are you trying to play the MSWMM file? That is a project file and is
used only by Movie Maker.
You need to use the "Save to my computer" option to create a video that can
be played by a media player.

As Wojo said, I don't think you have a 'saved movie' but only a project file.
When I save movies in WMV, they will play in both Windows Media Player and
in Real Player...but not in my QuickTime Player. However, when I save
DV-AVI files to make dvd's they will not play in large size in either WMP or
RP, but will show just fine in QuickTime. I delete the DV-AVI files after I
produce a dvd anyway, but I will 'preview' it in QuickTime to check that it
rendered ok.

Whats with all the flaming and rude comments in here....are they all Brits?
Those who have little to offer except for slamming others can go on to
another liberal cause as far as i'm concerned....maybe get on the bus tour
with Jane or something.

I agree it is definitely getting old and very tiresome.
