Movie Maker ends abruply

Movie Maker ends abruply without any message, each time I try to use a transition effect or a video effect. So I lose all my previous work (and my time...)
I run windows XP
I didn't find already any info to repare it.
 
I'm also having the same problem and also running windows xp professional. Every time I try to add a transition effect or anything else, it goes straight to desktop.
