even after download of 2.6 I do NOT get a finished product. The preview in
MMX looks perfect, but the WMV movie produced after several hours is out of
sync. How can this be corrected or avoided?

Some have suggested save in DV-AVI. This would give a file over 50 times
larger than the original AVI file!!! That is an error. I need to have what
the preview shows!

MM 2.6 is not designed for XP, why have you installed it?

Or do you have Vista and have posted in the wrong newsgroup?

You have some form of compressed avi, which most likely is not compatible
with MM, so you need to use an app to convert it to wmv other than MM.
Such as super.

Use avicodec or Gspot to find out what your avi is, see ehre for links
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/WebPages/UsefulProgrammes.htm
Then check the converters in that page to see which one will convert your
type of avi.

dv.avi uses a codec to give 13gb per hour, so this is working correctly if
you have a highly compressed avi as your start point, such as divx, but you
may have mep1/2/4, xvid, mjpeg and any of hundreds more!!!!!

Thank you, Mr. Hughes.

The MM 2.6 was a decoy suggested by an MS agent in India to cover what he
would not deliver, namely simple, but omitted instructions on MM 2.1. He said
help was not available for this "old version" - thus the 2.6! My videos are
compressed first in mpeg 3 and then in DivX 6x. They work fine in MM but a
saved movie has the video 2 to 6 seconds ahead of the sound. I am still
working to reduce the gap and have achieved a 1 sec. lag to date. This is
vary time consuming - trial and error. Thus I say a glitch - The process
should be much quicker. I should be able to really preview the end result,
not just test & discard.

Thanks again for your feedback. - Wm S.

Hello
My glitch is that when i am capturing video after a short while the captured
video changes into slow frames and is recorded that way too. This does not
happen every time but about 50%. Everything on the computer is new except the
harddrive. The cpu works at a very high percentage in moviemaker (Core duo
E45 2.2 Gigahertz and there is 2G of memory). No other problems on the
computer. I got all the available updates.

I doubt you'll ever get divx to work properly, convert your videos to wmv
and use that.
