Need help w/MM2. Am trying to use Sonic MyDVD to make a DVD according to Mr.
Bridgman's column. I did a slideshow and when I want to import it into MyDVD
is says that those tpyes of files are not usuable. I understood that they
would be. Also, I saved one slideshow to computer and saved one to CD. When
I look under Documents and then Videio folder from the Start menu-they are
there. When I want to import them into MyDVD the video folder shows
narration and temp folder with nothing in each.?? I have tried typing the
name of the file in and it says it doesn't use those types of files. What's
wrong? Why doesn't the slideshow show up in Video folder everywhere? Both
are still in the computer though. This is a 36 minute show I would very much
like on DVD--lots of work in it. Please help!

The files in MM2 just say MSWMM
===========================
There's your problem.....mswmm is
your project file. Open your project in
Movie Maker and go to...File / Save
Movie File. The extension should be
..wmv or .avi...The following article
explains how to save as .avi.

How do I save my movie as a
DV-AVI file in Movie Maker?

Saved movie to DV-AVI files and when imported into Sonic only the first clip
shows up on DVD. When you play it on the storyboard it plays the whole
thing. So forget it! Can ANYONE suggest a program LIKE MM2 that burns to a
DVD? I like MM2 format with lots of transitions, the storyboard,
titles/credits so you can add TEXT ONLY to a clip if you want instead of a
picture, lots of sounds tracks allowed and lots of pix allowed. Tried
some-wasted money. I do not like Movie Factory 4- Thanks for anyone's help!

Well since Movie Factory 4 is the easiest, other than MyDVD which has
virtually no features, DVD program to use you may be in trouble. If you want
to do everything with one application Nero 7 does have the ability but it
does not have as many options as Movie Maker and it is far harder to use
than either Movie Maker or Movie Factory 4.
Since you already have Movie Factory 4 and you, apparently anyway, have a
working video saved on your hard drive how about we see if we can fix the
problem before you spend more money needlessly.
So a few questions for you to answer and then we'll be on our way.
1) First of all does the DV-AVI file play correctly from your hard drive in
your Media Player?
2) What types of files are in your project?
3) How long is your project, how many transitions etc...?

Thank you so much for trying to help me. I LOVE Movie Maker 2 because I like
the format. I cannot find any other program with lots of sound tracks,
photos and most of all TEXT that I can have instead of a pix. Not text on
top of the pix but say--use a flip transition after a pix and then there is
text on the next clip. Someone told me (in this group) to save my slideshow
to DV-AVI which I did. It shows on the MyDVD screen and it PLAYS, but on the
storyline below only the first pix shows. I tried to burn a DVD and all that
showed up was that first pix. It DOES play on Media Player--files are now
DV-AV--only 20 sec. long with 6 pix and 5 transitions. Like I said, I love
this program but I want a DVD out of it.

I am on your side with your opinion of Movie Maker.
But the question now is...
Since you have a DV-AVI file that plays on your computer you know you have a
working video.
And If you have a working video that only has a problem when creating the
DVD with MyDVD (A program that I can't stand by the way).
And you already own a copy of Movie Factory 4 installed on your computer.
Then why exactly don't you use MF4 to create the DVD?
-Wojo

I found out I was doing everything correctly but when I put the DVD in to
play it on my DVD player I was using the wrong button THERE. CAN YOU BELIEVE
IT? Everything works fine now. I don't like Movie Factory 4 in creating a
slideshow because of all the reasons I previously mentioned. Did not think I
could burn a DVD from another program on Movie Factory 4. Haven't really
checked out anything but how to create a movie and I don't like it as well as
Movie Maker. Thanks for your help!

Your welcome.
I don't use MF4 for editing movies or creating slideshows either but I do
use it for creating DVD's.
I think you will find it to be an excellent tool to that end.
I recommend you check out the "My Toolbox" section of my website.
I have been working things out on that end because I really want people to
understand that you can create excellent and even outstanding pieces by
expanding the tools you use. O use many different programs to achieve the
results I want.
