I have a problem with mm2 hanging when editing movie. I
get the message "movie maker has runinto a problem and
needs to close sorry for the inconvience". I read that
this happens with the NIVIDIA video card, but I don't
have. It appears to only happen with video inports that
display a green video clip rather then a picture. I think
I have a software conflict, but I don't know how to solve
it. When I try to run conflict search on Wmm2 it states
that it is part of the operating system and can't check.
Can you help?

Hi there,

Things to consider.
1. Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.[a]
2. Do you have the latest version of DirectX installed.
3. Do you have the latest version of any DVD Player software installed. [c]

Notes
[a] The latest driver for my NVIDIA graphics manufactured by GAINWARD is
available from GAINWARD only and NOT NVIDIA. This is not the general rule so
I am told, but you should all the same keep it in mind.
Currently the latest version is 9b. But some have found that 9a is
better for them.
[c] Whilst you might imagine this to be unrelated, I can assure you that it
is not. DVD player software (bundled package) that is supplied with any
hardware you bought should always be treated as suspect. If all else fails
you should try removing this software, re-boot and see what happens. If this
simple test is successful you will almost certainly find that the software
house that produced that software will have an upgrade option for the
DLL's/Codecs. For example, I believe that Intervideo offer such an upgrade
for around $15.00 - $16.00 (Intervideo's WinDVD was the cause of the same
problem as yours on my machine. I replaced it with Cyberlinks equivalent
package and all was fixed)
