I have Microsoft Xp Pro. I have Office 2007 ulitimate including PowerPoint
2007.

I have Pocket PC( I-Mate Jas Jam) producing MPEG-4 video files.

Files to a Microsoft Mobile 5 operating system which Power Point's Movie
insert can't handle.

So Much for the complete business package.

Nice to know, that you own a mobile device. But what is your question? You
cannot insert MPEG4-videos, convert them to MPEG1 or WMV or use PFCMedia.

Best regards,
Ute

At the end of the second day of wrestling with this insert problem your
answer is a consolation to the frustration of a computer user. Thank u Ute.

Since I wrote for an answer I have resigned myself to the imperfect world
that things don't happen as they should.

I have been looking to convert this MPEG-4 to something PowerPoint 2007 will
swallow. I have dowloaded PFCMedia only to find another hurdle, a runtime
error. I am trying everything to get the Add-in to become operative in
PowerPoint 2007: Run a program called Winferno Power Registry Cleaner, no
different still a runtime error 70. Had a look at the security settings in
Power Point. Changed a few, no results. There's a wealth of runtime error fix
it offers in the google search. I'm off to bed. I'll have a fresh go at some
of them in the morning

Thanks Frank I have moved on since I wrote for an answer. I have tried to
install an Add-in called PFCMedia. Having trouble with a Runtime error with
it. I'll give this program you suggest a go.

Do you have a suggestion for converting MPEG-4 AUDIO files to another format?
VidCrop did no work for that since it is for videos.

Thanks!
Janet

Hi- I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this post but here is my
question.
I have mpeg 1 videos that I can insert in ppt 2003 and they play no problem.

However when I bring the same file and videos into ppt 2007 the videos will
not play.

Same thing in reverse. If I import the videos into ppt 2007 and then try to
play them in ppt 2003 they will not run. Everything else in the presentation
will work in either 2003 or 2007 including the simple ppt animations but
neither of the ppts will play the mpeg 1 videos. And you can forget either of
them playing on a mac ppt 2004!

What is up?
I would appreciate anything you can tell me.
Thanks
TT

Is this on the same computer or on different computers? (That is, is PPT
2003 and PPT 2007 installed on the same system or different systems?)

Where is the video located on the computer? How did you insert it into the
presentation?

Hi - videos are in a folder titled "videos" in the project folde with the ppt.
I then inserted the movies by using the insert movie optin in both 2003 ppt
and 2007 ppt. I then burned a disk to pass on to the client with the
project folder with the videos included.

The cd will play fine on ppt 2003 off the cd if the movie files were
inserted using ppt 2003.
However when I put the cd in my Windows vista machine and run ppt 2007 the
videos will not play. and vice versa. If I insert the movies using ppt 2007
then they will not play in ppt 2003 on the cd!

Iwas told mpeg 1 files were the most compatible but I am doubting that now.
Does this have to do with the media players?

These disks are going to schools through the northeast so I picked the
lowest common denominator and buillt the ppt in ppt 2003. Then tested it in
ppt 2007 and it wouldn't lay the videos.
HELP!!!!

You need to put the video in the same folder with the presentation, not in a
subfolder. Then reinsert the video into PPT. This will create "relative"
links so they won't break when you move from system to system.

If they're in a subfolder, PPT is looking for the exact path to that
folder -- which is different on the different systems. My guess is this is
more the issue than the 2003 vs 2007 thing.

The link Austin posted is fantastic information, as is the software on that
site. You may be better off just using PFCPro to fix these issues. There's a
fully functioning trial version of the software for download.

WMV is more compatible for Windows machines, but if you have to get these
things to play on a Mac as well, then I'd say stick with the MPEGs.
