movie freezes

I burned my movie onto a cd-r. When I watch the movie, the pictures get stuck and it stays on one picture through the rest of the movie, but the audio keeps going. I have burned it onto 3 different cd's and it freezes at a different spot on each cd.

Hi there,

Are you saying that the movie stored on your hard drive is OK and that
there is a problem during or after it is transfered to a disk?

As a matter of interest do you have a bunch of transitions on timeline? One
thing you can try, is to publish the movie out to DV-AVI and see if it plays
back OK. If it does, you can reimport that DV-AVI into MovieMaker and
republish it out to WMV to work around the problem.

To do this, when you're on the Movie Settings page choose "Other Settings"
and select DV-AVI from the list (if Other Settings isn't visible then click
"Show more choices...").

Then play back the resultant file and see if it's OK. If so then import that
file back into MovieMaker (you want to turn off the "Create clips for video
files" option at the bottom of the Import dialog so you just get it as one
clip). Then drag that down to the timeline and republish it as WMV with your
chosen profile.

Hope this helps.

I cannot publish as a DV-AVI because I did not transfer
images from a DV device. The movie I made is basically
photos that I scanned onto my computer. Do you have any
other options besides this?

Yes, I can watch it fine on the computer. When I watch
it on the cd, it freezes. Just not in the same place each
time I put it on a different cd.

Actuall,y even though you didn't import it from a DV device you can still
output as a DV-AVI file to see if my workaround works. Try the instructions
in my original email and let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck

I tried to go into "show more options" but DV-AVI is not
an option. How do I change from wmv to dv-avi?

Hi Denise,

I assume when watching on computer you are watching the final file.

If the image freezes on your player here are a couple of thoughts.

1) Is the disc medium suitable for burning at the speed your writer works
at...the cheap stuff can cause exactly the problem you describe. Try forcing
your writer to write at 1x speed, OK that can take a long time but it will
eliminate that particular issue
2) Did you touch the writable surface of the disc, easy done.
3) Are your disks stored in a cool place prior to being burned
