Well, I imported video from my camcorder, saved it to my computer as an AVI
file and everything worked out great. It worked fine, but now when I try to
play it, it "skips," like a CD thats scratched would. I downloaded an
audio/video analyzer called G-Spot and it said that my movie file is
corrupted. I don't know how this happened, it worked fine for the longest
time, and then almost outta the blue its been "sabotaged." I have the
screenshots from the G-Spot audio/video analyzer information if anybody wants
to see the visuals, I'll e-mail them to you.

Hello,

Click Start > RUN > CMD ? CHKDSK :X where X is the drive letter

You will probably find that the File Table is damaged if so, run it again
with the /F option, a repair will be attempted but the repair "could"
result in you loosing that file completely...so make a copy of it in
another directory before you do the check. Copying a damaged file does not
mean that the location it is save to will also be damaged

I'm sorry, I don't really understand. I clicked start > run > cmd ? chkdsk :c
in the 'run' box, and alls that came up was my system32\cmd.exe
page(basically cmd.exe). I don't know what the /F option is, can you please
explain?

Just a real quick note, the movie plays fine when its in the movie maker
program, but the one thats saved on my hard drive is the problem maker.

CMD will open a window with the command prompt.
From there, type the CHDKDSK command. /F tells
it to fix problems it finds, instead of just
reporting them.

Hello,

Sorry...the > is used in most newsgroups to indicate what you must do
next...the long format of this would be
1) Click START

2) Enter the word CMD and click OK

3) In the window that opens type the word CHKDSK followed by a space and
then a full colon and then the letter of the drive (possibly C) and then
click OK

What you do next will greatly depend on the final response from that
command. If you are told that there is a fault you will be offered the
opportunity of running the program again using the /F sub command...the
rest is as per my previous message.

If you are uncertain of what to do when given the reply from chkdsk....use
the options at the top of the CMD screen to copy the reply and post it in
here and I may be able to give more help

Right-click on the upper left corner of the cmd window

Then right-click on the same spot again, but this time
chose Edit -> Copy.

Then you should be able to paste what you just copied
