this was sent to me in an email this morning and was wondering if this site is legit..

(link edited)

They look to good to be true with a one off fee of 39.99 dollars registration fee but sumink doesn't smell quite right here..

Anyone ever dealt with this site or can shed some light on whether they are scammers...My mind tells me they are, my heart says oohh goodie movies for my new Ipod..

Nope, not legit ;) It just has a good, polished design, but still a scam.

I've edited the URL out to stop anyone accidently falling for it, but visit the root domain and you'll see it's blank. 1000% scam

I knew it thanks Ian...:thumb:

I used to have a URL to a site that told you the real address of websites and whether they were dodgy sites but I lost it with my last format around 8 months ago..

Anyone got any pointers to where I might find it again...would be grateful..

Normally I wouldn't even bother contemplating visiting a site like that but with my new Ipod Nano and all..There was just a teeny weeny chance I may have passed up something..

PM me the link. :thumb:

You can try out Spoofstick But if the site IS as it says it is then it won't help.

Clicking on links from an email is just asking for trouble ... sad as it is, never, never click on a link in an email ... type the proper address directly into your browser's address bar. Do not copy-n-paste, physically retype the address.

Try Haute Secure or even McAfee's Site Advisor, for an unobtrusive second line of defence ... I prefer HS. If you find a suspect site, that has not already been reported, HS will allow you to report a suspect site for further investigations. ;)

All browsers, IE7, Firefox & Opera, have built-in anti-phishing measures, they just ain't that good at defending you from a socially engineered website or email. Many people still blindly click away.

Most good antivirus programs have an anti-spam-junk-phishing filter that can do a reasonable job of detecting some nastie-linking emails.

Bottom line, nothing beats is as good as your own instincts or knowledge ... even 'experts' can trip up.
