For some reason in a first person shooter game the figure movement hesitates
for a few seconds then continues. This is a new problem. What can I clean
out to get back to a smooth performance? In fact, this message is also
hesitating.
Hesitation might be due to some other application running in the
background using CPU clock cycles. Could also occur if combined memory
demand exceeds the computers physical memory, forcing the computer to
use the page file. Exit any unnecessary background processes including,
but not limited to, instant messengers, web browsers and mail clients.
In a few cases fragmentation of the hard drive slows process of
replacing those segments of the application's data set that are present
in the computer's memory. IF fragmentation is at the root of the problem
the Windows XP OS includes a defragmentation utility, which should be
used occasionally anyway.
The issue might be a consequence of some application installed on the
computer shortly before the problem started.
