Moved Page from Private to Public Folder and Still Asks for Password

I created a page in the root dir and moved it to private dir to keep it
hidden. I moved it back to public (root) and browsers still ask for a
login username and password. Any idea how to fix this? I tried
renaming the file and accessing the page from other computers.

Did you recalculate hyperlinks??

I hadn't used recalculate hyperlinks before so I just tried it and the
page is still asking for a password. I also placed a link to it on the
index page, clicked on that and it didn't help. Also deleted cookies,
temp internet and FP files, refreshed, restarted FP and IE. I forgot
to mention I'm using FP 2003

I moved another page from private to root and it didn't ask for a
password so the issue appears to be limited to one or more pages.

I created a duplicate page w/a different name and that didn't work.

I guessed that the one jpg image on the page might be the trouble
because it isn't showing up in IE after I click cancel in the password
box, so I removed the image, refreshed and no more password box. This
is odd since the image file is located in root not in private. I went
back to the problem page and right clicked on the picture > picture
properties > general tab > picture: _private/pagename.jpg

I removed _private/ from the picture properties and now the page works
fine, no more password request! Apparently FP thought the picture file
is located in the private folder but it is actually in the root and
clicking on the picture file properties confirms this. In fact I never
moved the jpg file into the private folder. I guess this is just one
of those FP quirks? Also whenever I cut and paste a file from root to
private folder I get "an invalid argument was encountered" error
although the file does move.

Use drag-n-drop to move the pages between folders within your web as this will allow FP to update
all references.

Thanks, I found view > folder list then tried drag n drop from private
to root and it works. I wonder why cut n paste doesn't update the pic
as well?

Cut and Paste assumes you don't want to update the links.
