moved computer...now not working

i have moved my computer from one room to
another...hooked everything up...(based on sheet i got
with computer).
worked great before.
now i get a Dell screen with F2 & F12 in the upper right-
hand corner.
number lock is on and won't go off.
this screen appears every time i turn it on, but nothing
responds.
it's a Dimension 8200
Windows XP installed with a hp psc 2110 all-in-one
printer/scanner/copier.
i really have no clue.
a computer company i called has recommended some disk
that will repair this.
is this the right thing to do or have i done something
wrong that is so basic i am not seeing it?

Retrace your steps. If it worked before you moved it, it should work after
providing everything is hooked up exactly the way it was before. Unless you
dropped the thing I would find it hard to believe that it would just break
at the exact moment of the move. Of course there is always "Murphy's law".
 
Make sure you really plugged the keyboard into the keyboard
port and the mouse in the mouse port.

Make sure all cables are securely inserted, and in the right sockets.
Especially keyboard and mouse (check they aren't swapped).

Also try starting up without the printer/scanner/copier cable being
connected ... just mouse, keyboard and monitor, and see if that gets you
started.

I've had the same problem, Check all your plugin's, Make sure they are in
the right
place, I did the samething that you did,and got an error. Seems i had the
keyboard
in a usb port, Duh!..Well, It worked! But i was getting the same popups
that you
are getting now. Check & Recheck!
