Hi
We have a windows 2000 server which is sharing all of our printers. It is becoming overloaded, so we would like to move the printers to another server
The current server cannot be turned off because it has other functions
The server we would like to move the printers to cannot be changed because that also has other functions
All of the printers are listed in the Active Directory
All of the clients add the printers through the Active directory
We have noticed that when you are in AD and you can see the printers inside the servers when they are viewed as containers. You can evern move the AD objects for each printer from one server container to another
How can we move the printers on one server to the other server without having to change the client computers manually
I have read some other posts which mentioned scripts etc
I was wondering if there was any way of loading the current printer configs on the new server and then change the active directory objects so that they point to the new printer locations. How would one do this? Would this then change the workstations, because they are linked through that Active Directory object
Thanks
Laur
