Move just the fields, without the labels

I have a number of fields in a column with their labels in a column to the
left of them, but they are too close together.
In Design View I want to move the whole column of fields to the right a
little, so that there is more space between the fields and the labels.
Whenever I try to select the column of fields to move them, I get the column
of labels as well.
I have tried using combinations of Ctrl and Shift and Alt when selecting but
no good.
How can I select just the column of fields on its own? (Or for that matter
the column of labels on their own)
Thanks

Select them by running the mouse up through them or by Shift+clicking them.

Once selected, type the new value for the Left property in the Properties
box. This will have them all lined up perfectly, but will not change the
Left property the labels (unless you selected them too.)

CW,

As an alternative approach, here's how I would normally do this trick...
Select one of the labels and use the handle at the top left to position
it where you want (the mouse pointer will have a hand icon with single
index finger). If I understand you correctly, in this case you would
move the label to the left. Then select all the labels (as Allen
mentioned, either drag the mouse through them, or Shift+Click). Then,
Format|Align|Left menu.
