Move JPG files to Zip drive

When moving a JPG file to an external 250 usb Zip drive I
get the following error msg:
"cannot copy (file name): The directory or file cannot
be created."

Are there lots of files already on the zip disk?
I don't know the actual number, but there is a limit
to the number of files that can be in the root directory.
