I'm using Microsoft Outlook XP to check an IMAP account. When I delete a
message, the message is marked for deletion and a red line appears through
it. I'd like to change Outlook's behavior so that it moves the message to
the Deleted Items folder of the IMAP account, instead. I can't find where to
make that setting change, though. Surely this is possible?

Nope. The IMAP protocol allows it, several other mail clients have
implemented it, but unfortunately Outlook has not.

The closest you can get is to use views to hide deleted messages, then
drag messages to the "Deleted Items" folder yourself.
