Move contacts to another computer. Access denied??????????

I have read all the other tips that have been posted in reference to this
topic. I am trying to move the file to that hard drive and change the file
from read only. When I try to change the file attributes I get an error
stating that access denied. both computers are using Office 2003 pro.
Just to recap:
File exported to Desktop on first computer
File save to RW-CD on first computer
CD moved to second computer
File tried to imoprt through Outlook -Failed
File attempt to move to Desktop of second computer -Failed
Tried to change attributes -Failed Access denied

HELP please

The first thing you did that was wrong was to export. There's simply no
reason. WIth Outlook closed, simply copy your PST to the CD. All done. On
the destination PC, copy it from the CD to the hard drive and then remove
the read-only attribute there. I'd put it in My Documents or create another
folder for it. I wouldn't put it on the Desktop. Then start Outlook and
use File>Open>Outlook Data File to open it. FOr a complete description, see

I am unsure how to copy the folder with Outlook closed. Currently I have the
files saved to the desktop (they were exported out of Outlook to the
desktop). After I sent them there I copied them to the disk with Outlook
closed.
If you can give me the steps to follow that would be great. The way I read
your link I seem to miss a step.

Do not export. You lose data that way.
After I sent them there I copied them to

I have gone through the steps with Outlook closed. C drive - settings -
application- I don't have Outlook after I open to the windows extention? Not
sure why but I am unable to follow the steps corectly. I have changed my
setting for folders to show hidden folders, and still no luck. Sorry to seem
ignorant however, I have followed the steps without luck.
Any info very much appreciated.

Alas, I have no idea what this sentence means. What does "I don't have
Outlook" mean? Do you mean you don't have a file whose ame is Outlook?
Your PST may not be named "Outlook". It will have whatever name you gave it
when you created it. What is "the windows extension"? Do you mean you
can't see the file types? If that's the case, in Windows Explorer click
Tools>Folder Options, select the View tab and uncheck the box labeled "Hide
extensions for known file types". ALso make sure the radio button labeled
"Show hidden files and folders" is selected. Click OK. Now look again.

Thank you for all your help. I have resolved the problem. I had to "Copy"
and "Paste" the file to the C drive, in order for the attributes to be able
to be changed. That is the way I was able to get around the Access denied.
All is better here. Thanks again.
