I am using PP 2003.
I have an organization chart that I need to revise. I have one supervisor
with 5 people reporting directly to him. I need to move the 5th position up
the ladder to the 2nd position from the top, under the same manager. I tried
clicking on the 5th person and moving him up the ladder, but this did not
work. Does anyone know how to move people about in an organization chart? I
would certainly appreciate any help someone can give me.

You will need to de-select AutoLayout. To do so, click on the org chart to
bring up the org chart toolbar.
On the toolbar, select Layout > AutoLayout to de-select it.
Now you should be able to re-position the objects in the org chart.

Thank you for replying to my questiion, but I am still not able to move a
name box.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. I went to Tools, Auto Correct Options,
"Auto format as you type; "apply as you work" and checked that my AutoLayout
is NOT selected. I went back to the organization chart, selected one of the
name boxes (little circles were on the box outline), held down the left
button on my mouse and tried to move the box up two levels, but it did not
move. Can you tell what I am doing wrong. I know this should not be this
hard to do.

You need to be on the Organization Chart toolbar, not in the Tools menu.

When you select the org chart, the toolbar should appear automatically. Then
follow Shawn's instructions -- click the Layout button, then click
AutoLayout to deselect it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
That worked. I did not realize there was a difference - if fact I did not
know that this was the toolbar he was talking about. It is alway up on my
screen so that when I clicked on the org chart - nothing came up because it
was already up.

Again - Thank you - Aurora

You're welcome. And yes, I've also sometimes lost track of docked toolbars
because they're already there!
