.mov won't insert /run in ppt 2000 on pc

I have ppt for Mac X which accepts the insert of a .mov
and plays as expected. Taking it over to the pc ppt 2000
the same file won't run (with .mov in the same directory).
I've attempted to insert the .mov into a ppt 2000 file but
get the message...

"Poweroint couldnt insert the movie from the selected
file. Either the file is non-standard, or quicktime is not
installed properly"

I just installed an updated Quicktime and still get the
same message.

Any clue?
