I think anyway... it's in Russian (based on the ru). Does anyone
understand Russian? Is it possible that they may adapt Mouseimp to
Firebird and Thunderbird?

http://cooler.irk.ru/mouseimp/

Mouseimp, the finest scrolling control ever made, IMO.

Does it work for you in Thunderbird?

If so, how did you get it working in thunderbird and what versions are
you using?

When I go to install it for thunderbird, it says it is not compatible
with mozilla thunderbird :(

I just updated thunderbird to 1.02.

I don't know much Russian, either, but it seems that they have made a
DLL, which makes MouseImp PRO work with Opera and Mozilla. I tried and
it did work with Opera!
Also there is MouseImp PRO Live, which works with Opera (no mention of
Mozilla). I use it now. The setback with both (dll and MIMP Pro Live)
is that you can only scroll in one direction in the _browser_ window.
In other applications it works as always.

I'm a MouseImp enthusiast and it's great to see it's still developed.
Thanks for the news, Spacey!

Amen.

What I meant by "works for me" is that it was satisfactory for firefox.
However, it doesn't have the same accelerated control as Mouseimp.
I'm sorry if I led you down a wrong path for Thunderbird... I got the
same error.

I tried installing MouseImp PRO Live and it didn't work with Opera or
Mozilla (windows98). Before that I tried registering the Mouseimp DLL
with windows and got the error message:

MIPRO.DLL was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not
found.
DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of
MIPRO.DLL my be in memory.

Are you referring to a way to get the dll to work with Firefox or
Thunderbird? Puting MIPro.dll into the firefox plugins folder doesn't
work.

...and it didn't work with Opera or Mozilla
should read:
and it didn't work with Opera or FIREFOX

after update its MIPro.dll, it works perfectly on my firefox, what i
use is windows 2000/xp.

mouseimp, a great program! i have used it over six years!

I got the same error message, too, so I replaced the DLL in (the
"real") DOS. That worked.

Well, the site says Opera and Mozilla, so I assume they mean Firefox.
Replacing the DLL in DOS should do it. Put the new DLL in the MouseImp
folder. (I put mine in the Opera's plugin folder first, too :-)

Argh! Sorry, I misread your question. You installed MouseImp PRO Live
and got the above mentioned error message. I got that error while I
tried that special _DLL_ created for Opera and Mozilla (it's called
'mipro_dll_05_2004.zip'). I did NOT get error messages when I installed
PRO Live.
Both of those worked with Opera 7.54.

Is mouseimp Pro freeware?

THANKS!

I persevered some more thanks to your post as well and now mouseimp also
works in Thunderbird! Awesome!

I used process explorer

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

to find the mipro.dll and then killed all of those processes, including
the explorer process, and then copied the dll using a command prompt
(make sure you have the command already to go in a command prompt
window). Maybe I should look at using real dos commands, how would I go
about that?

I also had the task manager running so when I lost my task bar after
killing explorer, I could restart it by starting another explorer process.

Then Thunderbird starting working with mousegimp :)

Now we just need to get mouseimp working OpenOffice :)

It seems to be nowadays. IIRC it was sold and the new owners made it
open source. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
If you find the original MouseImp PRO in the net, it's NOT fully
working version. So you'd better download MouseImp (original free
version) or the new MouseImp PRO Live.

Try these addresses:
http://cooler.irk.ru/mouseimp/
http://bigfoot.com/~Nsky/
http://users.info.kuzbass.net/~nav/

The first page is in Russian, but you'll find the downloads from the
bottom of the page.

Cool! What a great idea to use Process Explorer. Wish I had thought
about that.
Maybe I should look at using real dos commands, how would I go about
that?

DOS commands are no different from command prompt. Except for the eight
character limit.

Example:

COPY C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\MIPRO.DLL C:\PROGRA~1\MOUSEIMP\

I also had the task manager running so when I lost my task bar
after killing explorer, I could restart it by starting another
explorer process.

You live dangerously :-)
Now we just need to get mouseimp working OpenOffice :)

Maybe we should mail those fellows who work on MouseImp, and let them
know our appreciation? That might courage to more work ;-)

OK!!! I like how Mouseimp scrolls better than ScrollBar anywhere, AND
it works in Thunderbird. Out-a-sight! Thanks Anne and Rili and xxx

Yeah definitely!

I don't know how people can live with out mouseimp!
I can. To me it didn't do anything. Perhaps I do not use programs
which make use of its interface.

I also could find no clear documentation as to its intentions and
uses. It merely added another icon to my tray which is already
overflowing with useless things as every program tries to grab its own
slice of the limited action.

Use mouseimp for scrolling on most windows software, ie, IE or windows
(try a windows application where it should work straight away) explorer.
Go to a web page in IE, that has scrollbars on the right side of the web
page. Now just right click anywhere and drag (instead of using the
scroll bars), the page should scroll up or down. You may need to
configure mouseimp to turn on direct scrolling and also turn on inverted
depending on how you like to scroll.

Once you can see that it is working, you can try it in firefox or
thunderbird as long as you have added the mipro.dll from the webpage
that we were talking about. You would also need to follow the
instructions given on how to get it working for both of the programs.

You can also configure it so that it has no systray icon.

Sounds like you need to use a startup manager to stop all of the crap
from starting when you first boot up.

I use Startup Manager from Gaffer Software, but I can no longer find it
