Mouse Wheel Problem

OK Experts --

I've got a mouse. It's USB. (Has a tail). It has a red light on the
bottom. (No balls). It's got a scroll wheel. Sometimes I can't get
the scroll wheel to work. It turns but nothing happens on the screen.

Maybe there's dirt inside the scroll wheel? How do I clean it? What
else could be the trouble?

Not impossible, yet unlikely.
Try loading the latest drivers - from the manufacturer's WEBsite.
Read their literature/documentation first.

Some applications do not support scroll wheel!
Like VB editor for example.
You can go to the mouse programme options and set the offending
applications to use the scroll wheel but it's a hit and miss affair I'm
afraid.
Still nothing ventured....
