I have a Microsoft optical mouse running on XP Home system. About once
every four days the mouse cursor will start to move straight across
the screen to the left and stops at the window boundry. At that point
I can't move it up or down, left or right and have to do a reset to
get things back to normal. This has happened once in Excel, once in MS
Word and once when reading news using Agent. Any ideas?

Believe it or not...your video drivers or settings can *occasionally* be a
cause for mouse
problems

try to update your video drivers or reduce your graphics acceleration
