mouse scroll kills sound

I'd noticed this before and not really sure the mouse doesn't have something to
do with the sound on the TV disappearing.

Be sitting there reading some html page on the web, scroll down or up and as it
scrolls the TV is full of static both sound and picture turn to crap.

The TV is more or less just background noise as I don't focus on it. And I've
had times where I'll look up and there's no sound coming out of the TV. fire up
the soundmax or volume control, normal sounds exist. beep whoop, you have mail
etc.. but the TV sound is gone. reboot and it's back.

Trouble is I haven't noticed when the sound finally disappears to relate it to
any external source such as this staticy mouse wheel.

The mouse wheel is the default volume control for MMC. Next time the sound
goes away click on MMC and try adjusting the volume slider.

Never thought of that. I have had TV on demand turn itself on, and other
strange things without touching the TV. probably something scheduled like on a
channel I'm already on and little more than a flash of light happens, but the
mouse is now attached to the TV.

and when I hit up or down with the mouse, nothing happens, then I tap whatever
I need to move, and the damage's already done it's changed the volume.
