I'm looking for a mouse which has extra programmable buttons, I know there are plenty "out there" but they don't usually tell you what the programming options are. The buttons on my current, ageing, optical mouse are set-up to copy-and-paste, (which I find really useful for many of the things I like to do on the PC.

) So, can anyone recommend a good (optical) rodent please, which can be specifically programmed to do that?

(I do know how to cut-and-paste using other methods, but find the buttons quicker...... oh and I can't buy another like the old one, 'cos they don't appear to be making them any more...:( I've Googled and physically searched stores locally.) Thanks for any suggestions.:thumb:

Oh thank you Mucks, and Quad, :thumb:I'm grateful for that ... you wouldn't believe how many boxes I've read, trying to establish which mice are capable of doing what.. lol They always tell you that you can switch between web pages, etc., but never mention copy/paste. I like the look of the MX1000 very much, it looks as if it would be very comfortable to use (so might even help the RSI I've developed!!):D Thanks again.

Just ordered the MX1000, :thumb: so should be with me some time next week. :D Looking forward to trying it out, so thank you all again

Razer Diamondback or Razer Copperhead.

I found them to be much better for gaming compared to the Logitech range. They dont weigh as much as Logitech and they have better buttons for gaming.

Also, logitech seem to try and make there mice ergonomic, which doesnt really work for me, they just feel wrong.

If you are gaming I second reef

I have a razer copperhaed and it's sensitivity range is HUGE. It's really comfortable, smooth and light.

and it has BLUE LED'S!!!!

WOOO

I am impressed with the Logi G7. It feels right, works well and is sensitive.

But.

But.

My curiosity is aroused.

I really wanna try one of those Razer Copperheads.

Anything to gain an edge in CoD 1 ;)

I'm probably not in the "serious gamer" category, Reefsmoka and PotGuy, I mainly play web-games, i.e., board or "Flash" type,:o so think I'll be pleased with the Logitech,:thumb: but thanks for the suggestions...... sounds as if you've converted Flops though...:D

Another G7 user here, and i love it.

haha flops I went straight from a wireless microsoft pile of crap to the razer, so I can't compare the G7 with it.

In fact you could probably have given me a lump of coal and it would have outperformed the mouse :p

In my opinion though, the razer in blue looks better than any other mouse.

My new Logitech MX1000 was delivered today, and I'm feeling really pleased with it.:thumb::thumb: It was easy to set-up and it is very comfortable to use, incredibly speedy too...... so can I ask a silly question please?

Am I supposed to leave the base station plugged into the mains and switched-on all the time - I know it must sound like a really daft question, but previous mice have always been corded. Also, do you ever use the on-off switch beneath the mouse? A spot of advice on "mouse-keeping" would be much appreciated please.... just wanting to get into the right routine with it. (Oops! That was two questions

you can see why I need help, can't you rofl.) Wheeeeeeeee, it's such a nice mouse!:D

It is all up to how you want to use it ... :thumb:

Me ... I have the "docking" station always plugged in & switched on, actually I've done that with 'em all, but I think you need to so it can receive the "signal" from the mouse.

The mouse at night I switch off from the button on the bottom, so as not to interfere with the power save on the monitor, and pug it into the docking station to charge back up. I do use it a good 10 hours a day.

Enjoy! :D

Oh thank you Mucks, that is much appreciated.

I didn't want to shorten the life of the battery by treating it incorrectly. My usage varies a bit, there are days when I would match your ten hours, but there are others (when the dreaded migraine strikes) that I can't use the PC at all -

! I was very impressed at how speedily it charged up today, only took an hour. Hee hee.....it feels just like Christmas here today :D Thank you again:thumb:

I have left it off the charger, and it lasted eight days for me before I got fed up and stuck it back on the charger ... not bad. :thumb:

The MX1000 uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. ;)

That is very impressive - I had a feeling that it might be quite long-lasting - compared to ordinary batteries, I mean, but eight days, wow! :thumb: It feels as though I have been using it for ever, it's so comfortable. :D

Wow At last—laser precision for lefties only the MX 610.
Looks like i know what Sis is getting for Christmas now.;)
