My Microsoft Wireless Optical mouse (attached to my laptop via USB hub) will
not work after I have left it for a while unless I click the left button.
In fact, I just did some experimentation and found that it works (moves the
cursor) if I move the mouse within 60 seconds of the last time I used it,
but at 61 seconds or more, I must click a button to make it respond. This
sometimes causes trouble when the mouse is focused on top of something I
didn't want to click.

TIA,

Tom

It's possible that power management is involved.
I'd disable it, and then see what happens.

I had the same problem as well as intermittent operation and never could
fix it. Bought a Logitech and haven't had any problems.

Chuck,

That didn't do anything to help the problem. This didn't generate many
responses so I'm going to post it somewhere else and hope for better
results. I'll let you know if I come up with a solution.

But, thanks for the try,

Tom

Well don't you suppose the battery saver is the cause? Wireless uses
batteries, mouse powers off to save battery life. Button turns mouse
back on. What enlightenment does the documentation provide?

Bob,

What I meant was that I turned off ALL power management ... setting all
settings to NEVER and it did not resolve the problem. But, even if it did,
wouldn't the power saving kick in at the set times (30, 60 minutes) and not
61 seconds?

I'll look online at MS for some help.

But, thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Tom
