mouse pointer opens everything

i just got a inspiron e1501 with vista home premium,how can i get the pointer
to stop openning everything it happens to come across,it acts like it has
some kind of auto click function if it goes over something that can be
clicked on.
 
it's touch pad sensitivity.
just press it delicately, instead of pushing hard on it!
alternatively perhaps there is a setting in some place like control
panel=>mouse/mouse pad

Just my two cents, but IMHO it's not a good idea to encourage people who
drop by to ask random "how do I use my computer" questions by actually
answering (or even attempting to answer) their questions. It just gives
them the false impression that this is in fact a newsgroup that they can
use for random "how do I use my computer" questions.
