mouse pointer drags itself to the corner

When working within applications such as word, the end
user indicates the mouse pointer starts dragging itself
to the corner of the screen. If they move it, it is like
it is fighting to go back down to the corner. This is
such an odd situation I don't know what to put in to
search for a fix.
