HTH.
nass

the mouse is alredy plugged in after boot the mouse will work ok for a time
but randomly stops responding and sometimes will continue to work for a while
and sometimes it will stay dead

Since you mentioned a new install of the Operating system, you will need to
get the latest updates for the Motherboard from the motherboard manufacturer
website.
Also can you see any Yellow exclamation mark or RedX in device manager or
IRQ conflict with the modem?.

Enhanced Intellipoint drivers should have a method of setting this.
On my Pc, I have an sample rate setting when the Intellipoint drivers
installed.
