Hia.

That's what I've got - and what I want to do.

Now then, does anyone know what "the obvious" might be?

Regards

What mouse?
What O/S?
Tell us about your PC.
What antivirus are you using?
What scumware eliminators are you using?

Didn't want to put you all to too much trouble. But:

optical mouse
XP Home
with
Norton AV03
Ad-aware
AVG
Spybot

Only used (by daughter) for MSN.

The obvious and eaisent place to look is the mousepad. With an optical
mouse, if there is a design on the mousepad, it can confuse the optical
reader causing lag and skip with your pointer.

Try a solid colored mouse.pad and see if that is your problem.
