Mouse Goes to Sleep !!

My mouse seems to go to sleep whenever I quit using it for even a few
seconds. Thereafter I have to wiggle it a good bit to get it to wake up,
afterwhich it works okay - until I pause - then it goes to sleep again.
What gives with this mouse? It is a Logitech First/Pilot Mouse+ USB. I use
Win2000Pro.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Device manager, Mouse Properties, Power management, Disallow mouse from
being turned off?
