The mouse freezes unexpectedly mostly while on the
internet, but also off the internet occasionally.

System has to re-booted manually (control, alt, delete
does NOT respond).

Once system begins to reboot, the following message
appears:

Checking file system C
The type of file system is FAT32.
One of your disk needs to be checked for consistency.
You may cancel but recommended........

Windows will now check the disk.
Volume series # 437C - 14D8
Windows verifying files and folders.

And then from there different messages will sometimes
appear from the Documents & Settings Folder. These
messages don't always appear.

Hi Anne,

If your mouse is locking when using the internet (Dial up modem I presume)
then there is an IRQ conflict. The modem and the mouse are probably using
the same interrupt to talk to the processor. Check your Control
Panel->System->Device Manager and see what conflicts exist for your mouse
and modem. The hard drive checking is just a result of not shutting down
properly.
