mouse freezing/ no reponse

I am getting a lot of this just lately my cursor freezes and i get the little white hand and no response for about a minute it is a old computer about 6 1/2 yrs old but still performs well.any advice most welcome

Have you done the usual, run a virus scan, check for driver updates....???

I didi the usual virus scan but not the driver up dates do you mean the mouse driver up dates?

i think i did this i went to the mouse program and went to driver updates and re inserted my cd rom that came with it and is working better thanks again
