Mouse erratic clicks

I have tried two mice, both would do extra clicks.
What that means is, that for example:
a drop down menu would appear and disappear;
would loose an item while dragging;
or would immediately double click when pressed once
opening things instead of just selecting.
would appreciate help tremendously.

Bad switches on cheap mouse???
Settings for double click speed and detection of false
clicks not set in mouse properties??
Too many pills cause finger twitches??

Take your pick

Maybe bad switches on two expensive mice - never heard of
false clicks except what I am trying to eliminate / Where
do I get the pills? You know lot...

TweakUI has an x-mouse setting where the presence of the cursor gives
an area focus rather than having to click on it. However, if the user
has selected to launch application with a single click, sometimes this
means that applications are activated. Assuming you have TweakUI, I'd
look there first. If not, try your mouse settings in the Control Panel
to see if you might have a similar option checked.
