Mouse doesn't wake up easily

After my PC goes into a sleep mode, wiggling the mouse does nothing to wake
it up. Picking up the mouse shows a blinking laser light rather than a steady
beam. Clicking the mouse brings it back into function. While this is an easy
fix, I've never seen a mouse act like this and can't believe all is well.

Now, while typing this message, I can't get my mouse working. The mouse
cursor is stuck on the screen while I type and it won't move. Till I click it.

Go to Device Manager and locate the listing for the mouse. Right click on
it and select Properties. If there is a Power Management page, make the
necessary changes so that the mouse does not go into standby.
