When I try to edit shapes or graphics, my mouse cursor will not move in a
smooth motion. It will make very large jumps from one point to another

It could be that you have snap to grid to turned on...
With a picture or drawn object selected, click the format tab. In the
Arrange group, click the Align button and select Grid settings...
Uncheck Snap objects to grid or set the spacing to smaller increments...

BoniM,

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and it didn't make any difference. Both
"Snap objects" boxes are UNchecked, and my grid is set to .083 inches

I am having sort of the same issue. When I try to select a point within a
sentence or a table cell it selects a large portion of the sentence or table
instead of just putting the cursor where I click. It is getting really
annoying - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul
