Does it's light turn off?
It may not help, as it's a recent problem, but....
Go to control panel and select the System applet.
In the dialog displayed choose the Hardware tab and click on the Device
Manager button.
Find the Universal Serial Bus controllers item, expand it, select each USB
Root Hub in turn and uncheck the Power Management "allow the computer to
turn off this device to save power"
