Mouse blinks

I just bought a new computer with Windows XP and often the mouse pointer has a blinking disc on the right of the pointer which is very annoying. There is nothing in my disk drives. I would appreciate help in turning this blinking disc off.

Control Panel/Mouse and change the pointers selection.

I am having this problem also. It just seems to have started two days
ago. Anyway, can you please elaborate on what to change? Thanks very
much!
