Hey I installed a game (It's an old game it wanted to
install DirectX3 (I didn't let it)) for my kid and a
little while later I noticed I didn't have any mouse or
keyboard control.

Specs:

Windows 2000 pro
service pack two I think
P4 2.4
nvidia

thanks

Boot to Safe Mode or Last Known Good configuration.
If you then have kb/mouse control, go into Device Manager
and check the drivers for these two devices. Try uninstalling
them and reboot normally, Windows should reinstall proper
drivers.

Well the problem is that I can't even use the keyboard to
get to 'safe mode' Is there maybe a hotkey to do that?

Are you saying that F8 won't work during boot? H'mmmm.....

Try booting from an emergency disk. If you didn't make an emergency disk set,
you may be able to make a set on a friend's computer that will work. I don't
know how fussy the emerg disks are about the hardware on which they are made
(that is, do they balk at being "moved to new hardware?" I wish I knew.)
During that boot you should be able to get to Safe Mode, and if so, you can
Repair, using your W2K install CD. Or do what Rick suggested.

Good luck.
