my c:\program files is on a 4gb drive which is runnin g
out of space. is it possible to use drive mounting to
extend the size of my c:\program files folder ?

e.g
map my c:\program files folder to a 10 gb second hard
drive that has a folder on which i wish to mount ? so
that essentially and transparently my c:\program files
folder increases in size by 10 gb ?

Sure. You can do this. The problem you will run into, though, is that you
have to create a folder on the drive to mount the new drive to. So, for
instance, if you wanted to create a folder called c:\program files\newspace
and mount the 10GB drive there, you could install all new programs into that
"folder." Beyond that, you could try some creative copying.

NOTE: Please back up your data before proceeding.

Rename c:\program files to c:\test
Create a new folder called c:\program files.
Install your new drive.
Mount the new drive to C:\program files.
Copy the contents of C:\test to c:\program files.

That would work ... a bit clunky ... but it would work.
