Hello,

I am trying to install the drivers available from motorola that are
supposed to be vista compatible as said by the motorola support
site. But when i install the modem using the newest drivers, the modem
isnt installed correctly and the error code 10 comes (device could not
start).

When i install the drivers that were ment to be for win xp,the modem
gets installed correctly, but the modem query command in the modem
diagnostic tab of the driver's property says that the interrupt for
the port should be checked for correctness..

see this:

But i dont know how to check interrupt for the port on which the
modem is installed..

Can anyone help me out of this situation?

Thanks.

Regards.

Curious - I have this exact modem, and Vista recognised it natively and
installed its own drivers which appear to work perfectly...

Curious too. Are you using the voice capabilities of this modem? Are you
using it for answering machine purposes?

Dear, "DanR" and "Mark Rae"

Thank you for replying.

I dont use the voice capabilities of this modem, for answering machine
etc.. purposes...

My main aim is to get it working to connect to the internet.

I am desperate to get this working..

There is a software named "driver genius pro" that backsup the drivers
and can be made to produce a self installable exe file.

I request you both to please provide me the drivers (that vista
installed natively) in this form...or if there is any other means by
which you can help me get those drivers...then please do so..

I will be thankful for such a effort.

Waiting keenly for your reply :-)

Thankyou

Regards.

I'm by no means a modem expert. I've always hated modem issues.
But... are you trying to re-install the native Vista drivers for you modem?
Did Vista install these drivers when you upgraded to Vista or installed your
modem on a Vista machine? And did they work or maybe you think they might
work as the other drivers have failed?
You might try "rolling back" the modem drivers from within Device Manager IF
the Vista drivers were ever installed on your computer. Might have to roll
back more than once.
Or you can try removing the modem from within device manager and let Vista
re-install it on your next boot. (might have to delete any downloaded
drivers) Lastly you can buy a new modem. If you don't care about the voice
capability of this modem and only need something for Internet... they are
very cheap. Most late model modems will at least do that with Vista. There
are a few Vista modem drivers out there. Not many though. (not for me) Zoom
has Vista drivers for at least one of their modems.

Actually, vista never installed any drivers for my sm56 modem..so no
point in rolling back.

I tried many versions of the drivers from the net...but none installed
perfectly..

Maybe replacing the modem is the only solution..i guess :-(

Anyways thanks for contributing for your inputs...

Thanks to all. :-)
